Veneers
Veneers are a cosmetic dental procedure that will leave you with a smile designed to enhance your appearance and confidence. With veneers, you can camouflage chipped/broken teeth, gaps in your smile, tooth discoloration or stains, misshapen teeth, and teeth that are too small.
Veneers Overview
Veneers surgery is not for everyone. You will be eligible for veneers only if your teeth are free from cavities and your gums are free from any gum disease. After your dentist has checked that box, they will take you through the process of getting veneers.
What is Veneers?
Veneers are thin, custom-made shells designed to cover the front surface of teeth, improving their appearance. They are typically made from porcelain or composite resin and are bonded to the teeth to enhance their shape, color, size, or alignment.
Types of Veneers
- Porcelain Veneers – These are highly durable, stain-resistant, and closely mimic the natural look of teeth. They require a small amount of enamel to be removed before placement.
- Composite Veneers – Made from resin material, these are more affordable and require less enamel removal, but they are less durable than porcelain.
Why Get Veneers?
- To cover stained or discolored teeth that don’t respond to whitening.
- To fix chipped, cracked, or slightly misaligned teeth.
- To close gaps between teeth.
- To create a uniform, bright smile.
Aftercare Veneers
- Brush twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste.
- Floss daily to prevent plaque buildup around the veneers.
- Use an alcohol-free mouthwash to avoid weakening the bonding material.
- If you grind your teeth at night (bruxism), use a nightguard to protect your veneers.
- Wear a sports mouthguard if you play contact sports to prevent damage.
